I was seeing a guy (divorced, 2 kids) and like a week before we made our relationship official and exclusive his ex wife decided she wanted to come back and "try again." He said yes because he wanted his kids back home. Neither are happy and he has expressed that he has every intention of coming back to me, he just wants his ex to be the one to leave this time around. (He also has a mental time limit for this "trying again".) Am I dumb/stupid/a bad person for still hooking up with and loving him

Umm, So i definitely am not here to tell you that you are stupid/dumb/bad for your choices or for who you’ve chosen to give your time and affection too.

But I would challenge you to stop and think about what you are getting/want out of a relationship with this man. And, is it what you really want to be getting? Tbh it sounds like this guy is pretty hooked on his wife, for whatever reasons, and I wouldn’t be waiting around for him to meet your needs.

Even if he’s telling you he’s going to, are his actions reflecting that? Like, obviously if what you want is to hook up with this guy and you’re getting that from him more power to you. But be sure you’re being honest with yourself about what you want/what you’re getting. Definitely don’t keep hooking up with this guy in the hopes that one day he’ll “choose you”

Maybe he will. And maybe it’ll be great. But why waste your time waiting on someone who seems like they’re just keeping you around? Your feelings are valid, whatever they are. Your choice is valid, whatever it is. But don’t be afraid to be really critical with yourself about it.
